Coronation Day

Today, 2nd June is the Social Forestry Day. It was on this day in 1974, the people of Bhutan welcomed His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo on the throne. The youngest leader in the world at his time and to shoulder the abundant responsibility for the country and the people. Since 1985, the coronation day is declared as Social Forestry Day and this day has it's important role to play in all times to come. People across the country mark the day by planting trees to highlight the significance of people's involvement in the sustainable management of forest.
We should take pride in being a Bhutanese as we are blessed with a benevolent yet dynamic and farsighted leader under whose reign we have experienced an unprecedented peace and prosperity. His vision of Gross National Happiness is an epitome of love and affection that his Majesty radiates all over us.
   
Despite being a small country, Bhutan is an exemplary for the world in balancing conservation and utilization of natural resources.The fourth Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Singye Wangchuk promulgated the Royal Government of Bhutan's constitution to mandate sixty percent forest cover for all times. 
Planting tree is recognized as one of the most engaging environmentally friendly activities that people can take part in to better the planet. Some of the benefits of planting and conserving the forests are: 
It reduces the soil erosion. It provides oxygen for breathing and cleans our air.  Many species of wildlife depends on tree for habitat. It provides foods, protection and homes for many birds and mammals. It provides building materials. It cools the  environment and it generates income.

UGYEN GURU LHAKHANG at Pangbisa. Tertoen Sherab Mebar was from Kham, Tibet who visited our country in 15 century. He at the out set travelled through Jomolhari where he discovered the first treasure and then travelled to Bumthang into and out of  Baylangdra with the prophecy to find a girl named Pema Chuki who would accompany him in discovering the treasures. Human Value

Once upon a time there was a king with five wives. One day, he got sick and was on death bed. Afraid of being alone in afterlife. He asked his fifth wife which he loved the most. He bought her diamonds, gold and elegant clothing. He asked her, would you die with me? Would you go with me to the afterlife? The fifth wife replied, I can't do that and walk away. He also loved his fourth wife. He was proud of her and would always show her off to the neighboring kingdoms. He asked the same question to her and he got the same answer. She also said that she will remarry after his death. Drakgay Phangtsho

 Throughout my life I have always enjoyed walking through the nature. I really don't know why but as I get matured, I realize that nature has bigger thing to offer. Hiking to Drakgay Phangtsho, one of the popular lake in Bhutan was not less than that.  Ten of us started our journey from Kichu Lhakhang at 3.00 A.M on 01st November,  2020. Travelling in a Bolero Camper was the best option as the road condition from Drukgyal Dzong was worse to travel in a small car.  After reaching the start point near lhakhang Charee Tsen Goenpa, we took  hot tea and snacks to envigorate the energy while hiking to our destination. We started our hike exactly at 5:30 A.M from the base in morning moonlight and the views were something that cannot be ignored. The walk was tough and tiring climbing uphills for more than three hours but the alluring view worth the struggle.  The name of the lake has been derived  from the local deity Ap Dragay.  According to the caretake...
