Hiking that failed
On 25th October, 2020 eight of us started our journey from Phajoding base came heading towards Dungtsho. We walked through the beautiful tall pine trees with favoring weather for the hikers. It took three hours to reached Phajoding from Motithang, the ascent of which is challenging for many visitors. But believe me, the place has rich practices of buddhism and holds many scared Buddhists artifacts. The mesmerizing Thimphu town view and our passion for hiking makes the journey wonderful. The Monastry was founded by Phajo Drukgom Zhigpo and the name of the place has been derived from him. If you are visiting for the first time, you should spend time and learn the historical moments of the place. Out of many, I remember the story of Gadey Chorten build near the Budi tree. The myth of chorten is that it was build by Je Yonten Thai and Je Tenzin Namgay after sitting on the flat stone near the lhakhang envisioning the style of the chorten. They are the disciples of 9th Je Khenpo Shakya Rinchen and most of the monasteries were built by Je Shakya Rinchen. The deity of the place is Dorji Draktsen. Bhutan has so many things to offer in terms of amazing historical monument. The myth does not end here. There are so many things to hear from caretaker and it will definitely make you fall in love with Bhutan's history.
After spending some time at Phajoding, we continued our journey towards Thujey-Drak. The view there gonna make you feel the importance and beauty of the nature. The alluring view will surely gonna make you feel like to stay back. Walking in and out of beautiful medical herbs like Ballu and Sullu(Bhutanese use these as a ingredients for making incense). We could finally reached our night at Thujey-Drak walking around one and half hour from Phajoding. The Monastry is located near cliff and it is a place where Lam Phajo Drukgom Zhigpo meditated for a month. It is believed that he envisioned Chenrigzee at the end of the meditation. He then placed his walking stick into the cliff face where he meditated and if his teaching were to spread, water would emerge from the rock face, which subsequently did. The holy water is known by every Bhutanese for curing the speech impediments. It really is a wonder.................
The fine bhutanese architectural designed of Thujey-Drak was build by Je Shakya Rinchen in 1748.
On 26th October, 2020 we were to head towards eighteen lakes. Unfortunately, it rained heavily and we were stranded at Thujey-Drak.
We were unlucky to have failed our wishes but fortunate to have learned about our rich traditional customs and Buddhism.
