Day Hike to Wangditse

DAY HIKE EMBRACING MARCH MONTH(01.03.20)

Hiking up to Wangdi tse and appreciate the fine architecture of the historical monument. As saying"To leave or depart, I wish that pest would take a hike".We have started our hike from Buddhist Shrine Dechen Prodrang exactly at 10:30 am soaking in the  beauty through the bewitching and unspoilt  landscape of Bhutan. It takes 40 minutes by the average walkers to reach the destination. The distance is short with enchanting views and it will leave you breath less for sure. After reaching the lhakhang,  the view of Thimphu Valley is mesmerizing and so it is, as we can see several mountain peaks.
 Let me share what I have heard from the caretaker:Wangditse was founded by Kagyu Lama Tenzin Dendup believed to be from Bhutan. The view of three storied from back side and two storied from front has two chapels. The top floor is the chapel for local deity, Mahakala and Mahakali(Yeshi Gembo and Palden Lhamo).When I was little girl, I have seen a mermaid fixed on one of the pillar. It was surprising to see the same mermaid fish which was originally from Zangta Tsho(below Dechen zam, Thimphu) on display in the glass box. Not a single lump of the the mermaid skin  has declined. The ground floor has a statue of Sangay Shacha Thuba in the middle of Jampelyang and Cherigzee. The eight Dechen chorten is inside the ground chapel each signifying a major event in the life of Buddha Sakyamuni.
After making the meritful cirmulation around the lhakhang, we have return back to the start point as saying goes " to walk in the nature is to witness the thousand miracles "

UGYEN GURU LHAKHANG at Pangbisa. Tertoen Sherab Mebar was from Kham, Tibet who visited our country in 15 century. Once upon a time there was a king with five wives. One day, he got sick and was on death bed. Afraid of being alone in afterlife. He asked his fifth wife which he loved the most. He bought her diamonds, gold and elegant clothing. He asked her, would you die with me? Would you go with me to the afterlife? The fifth wife replied, I can't do that and walk away. He also loved his fourth wife. He was proud of her and would always show her off to the neighboring kingdoms. He asked the same question to her and he got the same answer. She also said that she will remarry after his death. Drakgay Phangtsho

 Throughout my life I have always enjoyed walking through the nature. I really don't know why but as I get matured, I realize that nature has bigger thing to offer. Hiking to Drakgay Phangtsho, one of the popular lake in Bhutan was not less than that.  Ten of us started our journey from Kichu Lhakhang at 3.00 A.M on 01st November,  2020. Travelling in a Bolero Camper was the best option as the road condition from Drukgyal Dzong was worse to travel in a small car.  After reaching the start point near lhakhang Charee Tsen Goenpa, we took  hot tea and snacks to envigorate the energy while hiking to our destination. We started our hike exactly at 5:30 A.M from the base in morning moonlight and the views were something that cannot be ignored. The walk was tough and tiring climbing uphills for more than three hours but the alluring view worth the struggle.  The name of the lake has been derived  from the local deity Ap Dragay.  According to the caretake...
